A6IP Center to co-organize “Forum on Advancing Article 6 Implementation through Business Engagement and JCM Project Matchmaking in Thailand”

The Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership (A6IP) Center, with the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) serving as its secretariat, will co-organize the “Forum on Advancing Article 6 Implementation through Business Engagement and JCM Project Matchmaking in Thailand”, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 17th December 2025.

This Forum is hosted by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO), under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand and co-organized by the A6IP Center, the Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC), along with other supporting organizations. The purpose of the Forum is to promote a practical understanding of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and its implementation through the formulation of Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) projects in Thailand.

The event will feature discussions on the latest developments in JCM, Thailand’s Article 6 authorization framework, practical guidance for developing projects under the JCM track under Premium T-VER and explore innovative technologies and priority project types aligned with Thailand’s decarbonization and climate goals.

A business pitch session will feature companies presenting JCM-related technologies and solutions, followed by individual consultation meetings to encourage concrete project collaboration between Japanese and Thailand stakeholders.

Focus Area of Technologies and Project Types:

  • Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU), and Direct Air Capture (DAC);
  • Renewable energy such as green hydrogen, tidal energy, offshore wind energy, geothermal energy, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green ammonia;
  • Energy efficiency improvement such as high-efficiency electric furnaces, high-efficiency electric motors, energy storage, green pallet production from agricultural waste;
  • Transportation such as electrification of transportation systems, hydrogen vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) with a fuel cell;
  • Industrial decarbonization such as low carbon cement, production of methanol, reduction of the use of fluorinated gases;
  • Agriculture and livestock, including smart agricultural practices such as soil management, AWD, advanced bio-methanol
  • Wastewater or waste management using advanced technology;
  • Other hard-to-abate sectors and high-impact mitigation options
