The Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership (A6IP) Center (Secretariat: Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES)) held the “Forum on Promoting Corporate Participation in the JCM for Vietnam's Carbon Market Readiness” on July 22, 2025, in Hanoi, Vietnam. In addition to government and private sector representatives, around 190 participants attended in person and 200 joined online from international organizations, NGOs, research institutions, and other entities from Vietnam, Japan, and various other countries.
A6IP supported the organization of the “Forum on Promoting Corporate Participation in the JCM for Vietnam's Carbon Market Preparation,” co-hosted by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, which was held on July 22, 2025, in Hanoi, Vietnam. The forum aimed to promote corporate participation in the JCM in Vietnam.
The forum provided information on JCM projects, including the legal framework and infrastructure necessary for the establishment and effective operation of a carbon market in Vietnam, as well as the latest developments and future potential of the JCM. Additionally, discussions were held on future cooperation between Japan and Vietnam under the JCM.
In the latter half of the forum, A6IP provided an update on the latest information regarding the JCM credit issuance process, including approval procedures under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, as well as technical matters related to JCM methodologies. Participants also had the opportunity to visit actual JCM project sites and gain a deeper understanding of Japan's decarbonization technologies.
