“The King­dom of Saudi Ara­bia con­siders vol­un­tary cooper­a­tion and approaches referred to in Art­icle 6.2 as well as the mech­an­ism referred to in Art­icle 6.4 of the Par­is Agree­ment as essen­tial for inter­na­tion­al cli­mate goals. Once oper­a­tion­al­ized, such cooper­a­tion, approaches and mech­an­isms includ­ing inter­na­tion­ally trans­ferred mit­ig­a­tion out­comes, will play a role in achiev­ing the Kingdom’s cli­mate change ambi­tions. They will enhance private sec­tor engage­ment, advance innov­a­tion in busi­ness mod­els, unlock invest­ment flows and sup­port clean­er energy tech­no­logy devel­op­ment. There­fore, the King­dom reaf­firms its sup­port for the com­ple­tion of rules required for Art­icle 6 operationalization.”

The King­dom of Saudi Ara­bia con­siders vol­un­tary cooper­a­tion and approaches referred to in Art­icle 6.2 as well as the mech­an­ism referred to in Art­icle 6.4 of the Par­is Agree­ment as essen­tial for inter­na­tion­al cli­mate goals. Once these are fully oper­a­tion­al and util­ized, such cooper­a­tion, approaches, and mech­an­isms includ­ing inter­na­tion­ally trans­ferred mit­ig­a­tion out­comes (ITMOs), may play a role in achiev­ing the Kingdom’s NDC ambi­tions. They will enhance private sec­tor engage­ment, advance innov­a­tion in busi­ness mod­els, unlock invest­ment flows and sup­port clean­er energy tech­no­logy devel­op­ment. There­fore, the King­dom reaf­firms its com­mit­ment to, and align­ment with, the Art­icle 6 rule­book under the Par­is Agree­ment, and con­tin­ues to closely fol­low the devel­op­ments related to its imple­ment­a­tion and its con­sid­er­a­tion to engage in both GHG and non-GHG metrics.
