Use of Article 6 Under NDC
Intention to Use Article 6 Under Current NDC
Pakistan considers employing the instruments on enhanced ambition provided in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. This may include the mitigation mechanism under Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement, as well as bilateral cooperative approaches under Article. 6.2. Pakistan may also pilot integrated, holistic and balanced non-market approaches under Article 6.8, as described below.
Intention to Use Article 6 Under NDC 3.0
Pakistan intends to explore and, where appropriate, utilize voluntary cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to enhance the achievement of its NDC3.0 targets. Building on its participation in global carbon market mechanisms, Pakistan intends to promote initiatives that support the transfer and diffusion of low-carbon and climate-resilient technologies, sustainable infrastructure, and nature-based solutions. In doing so, Pakistan ensures environmental integrity, transparency, and avoidance of double counting, in alignment with the Paris Agreement. Pakistan intends to enhance international cooperation and promote partnerships to strengthen capacity, mobilize climate finance, and facilitate technology transfer, thereby contributing both to its own sustainable development priorities and to global climate change goals
