Pakistan

Pakistan con­siders employ­ing the instru­ments on enhanced ambi­tion provided in Art­icle 6 of the Par­is Agree­ment. This may include the mit­ig­a­tion mech­an­ism under Art­icle 6.4 of the Par­is Agree­ment, as well as bilat­er­al cooper­at­ive approaches under Art­icle. 6.2. Pakistan may also pilot integ­rated, hol­ist­ic and bal­anced non-mar­ket approaches under Art­icle 6.8, as described below.

Pakistan intends to explore and, where appro­pri­ate, util­ize vol­un­tary cooper­a­tion under Art­icle 6 of the Par­is Agree­ment to enhance the achieve­ment of its NDC3.0 tar­gets. Build­ing on its par­ti­cip­a­tion in glob­al car­bon mar­ket mech­an­isms, Pakistan intends to pro­mote ini­ti­at­ives that sup­port the trans­fer and dif­fu­sion of low-car­bon and cli­mate-resi­li­ent tech­no­lo­gies, sus­tain­able infra­struc­ture, and nature-based solu­tions. In doing so, Pakistan ensures envir­on­ment­al integ­rity, trans­par­ency, and avoid­ance of double count­ing, in align­ment with the Par­is Agree­ment. Pakistan intends to enhance inter­na­tion­al cooper­a­tion and pro­mote part­ner­ships to strengthen capa­city, mobil­ize cli­mate fin­ance, and facil­it­ate tech­no­logy trans­fer, thereby con­trib­ut­ing both to its own sus­tain­able devel­op­ment pri­or­it­ies and to glob­al cli­mate change goals
