March Update: Progress in Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation

Steady progress continues as more countries advance readiness and transparency under Article 6.

Recent developments include:

  • 19 Parties have submitted initial reports visible on the CARP, expanding reporting under Article 6.2.
  • Kenya’s launch of the National Carbon Registry (KNCR), a significant step enhancing national‑level transparency.
  • 1,122 Prior Consideration Notifications submitted to date.
  • 151 CDM activities approved by Host Parties for transition under the Article 6.4 mechanism.
  • 12,283 projects registered under independent carbon standards, including ACR, ART, CAR, GCC, GS, and VCS.
  • 88 Article 6‑authorized projects under independent carbon standards.
  • 134 NDC 3.0 submissions from Parties to date.

These updates reflect continued momentum in global cooperation and operationalization of carbon market mechanisms under the Paris Agreement.
