June Article 6 Implementation Status Update – Final Update Until New Report in Q4 2026

The Article 6 implementation status update for June has been released, representing the final update derived from the 2025 report. The latest data indicate continued progress in the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, with advances across bilateral cooperation, institutional progress, and more.

An updated Implementation Status Report, incorporating new data and developments, is expected in Q4 2026.

Bilateral Cooperation

A total of 112 bilateral agreements have now been signed, reflecting growth from 107 in the previous update.

Institutional Progress

  • 23 initial reports have been submitted (up from 20), including new submissions from Peru, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania
  • 128 Designated National Authorities (DNAs) have been established (up from 127)
  • 60 host Party participation requirements have been defined (up from 54)
  • 141 Parties have submitted new NDCs (NDC 3.0s), (up from 138)

CDM Transition and PACM

  • 215 Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) activities have been approved for transition (up from 197)
    • 22 activities have fully transitioned and are now registered under the Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism (PACM)

Prior Consideration Notifications

  • 1,151 activities have been submitted (up from 1,144), comprising:
    • 916 Project Activities (PAs)
    • 235 Programmes of Activities (PoAs)

Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM)

  • 12,445 activities are registered (up from 12,422)

This final snapshot highlights continued acceleration in Article 6.2 implementation, institutional frameworks, and international carbon market activity.
