A6IP Center supported Thailand in submitting its first ITMOs annual report to the UNFCCC

Thailand has submitted its first annual report on Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) to the UNFCCC, with support from the A6IP Center. This submission fulfills the Article 6.2 guidance requirements for countries involved in Article 6.2 international market-based cooperation to provide annual information relating to ITMOs, the mitigation outcomes traded under the cooperation, together with accompanying information, in the form of an “agreed electronic format” (AEF).

As one of the first countries to authorize and transfer ITMOs, Thailand received technical assistance from the A6IP Center to draft and submit the AEF by the deadline of April 2025. This technical support encompasses an online AEF walk-through session, provision of guidance on identifying sources of information, input of data into the AEF, and tailored advice for Thailand’s specific context.

The report includes details of Thailand's authorization and transfer of ITMOs from its first Article 6 project, the Bangkok E-bus Program, under its cooperation with Switzerland. These ITMO authorization and transfers are recorded in the Thailand Carbon Credit Registry.

The timely submission of the AEF is crucial for ensuring transparency and providing the necessary information to prevent double counting in Article 6 cooperation which is fundamental in promoting trust and confidence in international carbon markets.

Thailand's submitted AEF can be found on the UNFCCC’s Centralized Accounting and Reporting Platform (CARP)
