“The Mal­dives intends to par­ti­cip­ate in the mech­an­isms under the Art­icle 6 of the Par­is Agree­ment. How­ever, due to lack of agreed rules at the time of this sub­mis­sion, the level of par­ti­cip­a­tion for achieve­ment of the NDC tar­get is not determined.”

The Mal­dives is cur­rently devel­op­ing the neces­sary frame­works and mech­an­isms to facil­it­ate its par­ti­cip­a­tion in Art­icle 6 activ­it­ies, and explor­ing oppor­tun­it­ies for vol­un­tary cooper­a­tion by lever­aging bilat­er­al arrange­ments and assess­ing the bene­fits of enga­ging with the inter­na­tion­al car­bon market.
