Intention to Use Article 6 Under Current NDC

Ethiopia expresses a strong interest for vol­un­tary cooper­a­tion in emer­ging inter­na­tion­al car­bon mar­kets gov­erned by Art­icle 6 of the Par­is Agree­ment. Ethiopia sees car­bon mar­kets as instru­ments to increase mit­ig­a­tion ambi­tion and places high import­ance on envir­on­ment­al integ­rity through robust account­ing as well as the pro­mo­tion of sus­tain­able devel­op­ment. Ethiopia there­fore invites inter­ested Parties to explore enga­ging in cooper­at­ive approaches.

Intention to Use Article 6 Under NDC 3.0

Fur­ther­more, the integ­rated MRV and M&E frame­work will be improved through suc­cess­ive NDC revi­sion cycles and will work toward full align­ment with Art­icle 4 (Mit­ig­a­tion), Art­icle 6 (Cooper­at­ive Approaches), Art­icle 7 (Adapt­a­tion) and Art­icle 13 (Enhanced Trans­par­ency Frame­work) under the Par­is Agreement.
