Fur­ther­more, Côte d’Ivoire con­siders, as being essen­tial, the estab­lish­ment of mar­ket and non-mar­ket mech­an­isms in order to pro­mote cooper­a­tion between coun­tries, as provided for in Art­icle 6 of the Par­is Agree­ment in par­tic­u­lar, by redu­cing total costs to achieve the object­ive of lim­it­ing the increase of tem­per­at­ures set out in Art­icle 2 of the said Agree­ment. Cote d’Ivoire intends to use the Car­bon Mar­ket and Non-Mar­ket Mech­an­isms under Art­icle 6 of the Par­is Agree­ment to imple­ment its NDCs and to par­ti­cip­ate, if neces­sary, in inter­na­tion­al mit­ig­a­tion out­come trans­ac­tions (ITMOs) as part of a vol­un­tary cooperation.

[machine trans­la­tion] Côte d’Ivoire also intends to fin­ance the imple­ment­a­tion of its NDC 3.0 through car­bon mar­kets, lever­aging both the mech­an­isms of Art­icle 6 of the Par­is Agree­ment and the vol­un­tary mar­ket. With the cre­ation of the Bur­eau du Marché Car­bone (BMC) in 2024, the coun­try estab­lished an insti­tu­tion­al frame­work to reg­u­late and mon­et­ize car­bon cred­its, rein­forced by spe­cif­ic pro­vi­sions in the frame­work law on cli­mate change.
