Use of Article 6 Under NDC
Intention to Use Article 6 Under Current NDC
Furthermore, Côte d’Ivoire considers, as being essential, the establishment of market and non-market mechanisms in order to promote cooperation between countries, as provided for in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement in particular, by reducing total costs to achieve the objective of limiting the increase of temperatures set out in Article 2 of the said Agreement. Cote d'Ivoire intends to use the Carbon Market and Non-Market Mechanisms under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to implement its NDCs and to participate, if necessary, in international mitigation outcome transactions (ITMOs) as part of a voluntary cooperation.

With the creation of the Bureau du Marché Carbone (BMC) in 2024, the country established an institutional framework to regulate and monetize carbon credits, reinforced by specific provisions in the framework law on climate change.
