“The Aus­trali­an Gov­ern­ment has no plan to engage in inter­na­tion­al car­bon mar­kets to meet its emis­sions reduc­tion tar­gets. The gov­ern­ment will con­sider the role of car­bon mar­kets in devel­op­ing the net zero by 2050 plan. Should Aus­tralia decide to use cooper­at­ive approaches under Art­icle 6 of the Par­is Agree­ment towards achieve­ment of its NDC or to author­ize the use of inter­na­tion­ally trans­ferred mit­ig­a­tion out­comes towards the NDCs of oth­er Parties, it would report on such use or author­iz­a­tion through its Bien­ni­al Trans­par­ency Reports and con­sist­ent with guid­ance adop­ted under Art­icle 6.”
