Thailand submitted the Updated Initial Report on Article 6.2 cooperation
Thailand submitted the updated initial report on their cooperative approaches under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. The report is now available on the UNFCCC’s Centralized Accounting and Reporting Platform (CARP).
The A6IP Center supported Thailand in refining the initial report by reviewing and addressing the recommendations from Article 6 technical expert review (A6TER) from their first reported cooperation with Switzerland, as well as incorporating a new cooperative approach, the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) with Japan.
With strong collaboration and leadership from the Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE) and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO), this submission reflects Thailand’s continued commitment to enhancing transparency, ensuring consistency with Article 6.2 guidance, and continuously improving its reporting practices for international carbon market cooperation.
“Thailand’s updated initial report demonstrates the country’s strong capacity and readiness to engage in high-integrity Article 6 cooperation,” said Kazuhisa Koakutsu, Director of the A6IP Center. “This also highlights that an initial report is a living document—one that can be updated at any time to reflect evolving circumstances and new cooperative initiatives. We are pleased to support Thailand’s efforts to align its reporting with evolving international requirements and to share valuable lessons for other countries preparing their own reports.”
The A6IP Center continues to collaborate with partner countries to strengthen institutional readiness and promote practical understanding of Article 6 implementation through technical support and knowledge exchange.
