Kazuhisa Koakutsu, Director of the A6IP Center, participated in a panel discussion at the Eastern Africa Regional Carbon Market Dialogue on developing carbon market opportunities through bilateral cooperation. The discussion focused on experiences in bilateral cooperation, lessons learned, challenges, and future outlooks. He shared insights on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), highlighting the importance of building knowledge and facilitating project development to support the implementation of Article 6.

Additionally, Mr. Koakutsu contributed to a Policy Clinic on ITMOs Authorization and Corresponding Adjustment, where he discussed authorization arrangements. He emphasized the importance of authorizing estimated ITMOs at the time of project registration to enhance predictability and noted that the actual quantity of ITMOs should be authorized at the time of credit issuance.”
