The Article 6 Implementation Partnership (A6IP) Center participated in the Partnership for Market Implementation (PMI) Global Knowledge Forum and Innovate4Climate (I4C) 2026, hosted by the World Bank in Singapore from 18–22 May 2026.
Representing A6IP, Director Kazuhisa Koakutsu and Senior Program Manager Diana Khan engaged with government representatives, development partners, international organizations, and private-sector stakeholders from around the world to discuss the future of carbon markets and the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
Navigating Decisions on Carbon Markets
Director Koakutsu participated as a speaker in the PMI session "Navigating Decisions on Carbon Markets," where he presented insights from the Article 6 Implementation Status Report (A6ISR) and shared lessons learned from supporting countries as they operationalize Article 6 frameworks.
Knowledge Sharing on Country Support
During the PMI Knowledge Station sessions, A6IP presented "Navigating Article 6 Through Country Support and Knowledge Sharing," highlighting practical experiences from partner countries and showcasing how tailored technical assistance, peer learning, and capacity building can help countries move from readiness to implementation.
Facilitating Dialogue on Liability and Risk
A6IP also moderated an Innovate4Climate workshop on Liability and Risk in Carbon Markets, bringing together experts and practitioners to discuss approaches for strengthening market integrity, managing risk, and building confidence in international carbon market transactions.
Bilateral Meetings and Global Engagement
Throughout the week, the A6IP team held a series of bilateral meetings with partner countries, development agencies, and international organizations to discuss Article 6 authorization frameworks, Initial Reports and transparency requirements, Corresponding Adjustments, carbon market readiness, registry development, capacity-building opportunities, and future collaboration under the A6IP Support Package.
"The discussions at PMI and I4C demonstrated the growing momentum among countries seeking practical support to implement Article 6," said Kazuhisa Koakutsu, Director of the A6IP Center. "While many countries have made significant progress in developing policy frameworks, there remains strong demand for technical assistance, peer-to-peer learning, and implementation-focused capacity building. A6IP remains committed to supporting partner countries through knowledge sharing, technical cooperation, and practical implementation support to help operationalize high-integrity carbon markets under the Paris Agreement."
A6IP thanks the World Bank, PMI, I4C organizers, and all partners who met with the team during the week and looks forward to continuing these conversations and strengthening collaboration in the months ahead.
